Turn a voice recording into text
Upload a voice memo, phone-call recording, or voicemail – or merge several parts into one – and get a clean, speaker-labeled transcript. Sensitive recordings stay private: audio is deleted the instant your transcript is ready, and private mode goes further still.
Video stays local. Transcription audio isn't kept.

A voice memo, a recorded call, a voicemail someone left you. These are usually the most private things you record, and they often arrive in pieces: a call split across two files, a memo and its follow-up recorded separately. Hushscript transcribes any of them, merges multi-part recordings into a single ordered transcript when you need that, and deletes the audio the instant the job is done, automatically, on every recording, not just the ones you flag.
Built for sensitive recordings
Hushscript deletes the audio the moment your transcript is ready, keeps nothing afterward, and never trains on what you upload. The speech engine itself runs with zero retention, so it doesn’t remember your recording once the job finishes. Your transcripts are encrypted at rest too: if our storage were ever leaked, what’s exposed is unreadable ciphertext, not your words. That protection doesn’t lock you out of your own account; you can still read, edit, export, and delete transcripts normally, whenever you want. Change your mind entirely? Remove the transcript itself in one click, any time, no waiting period.
Transcribe any voice recording in three steps
Drop the file, or several related ones, then preview the first 30 seconds free and sign up to get the full speaker-labeled transcript. Your first 30 minutes are free after a $1 card check (released right away, never charged), or with your first purchase if you pay another way. From there it’s pay-as-you-go, no subscription.
Merge a multi-part recording into one transcript
A phone recorder that saves in chunks, a call that got split across two files because the app restarted, a voicemail and the callback that answered it: related recordings don’t have to stay separate just because they arrived that way. Upload the parts and merge them into a single ordered transcript, with speakers tracked consistently across the whole thing instead of resetting with every file. Set the order once; the transcript reads as one continuous conversation because it is one, even though it started as three, four, or more separate recordings sitting in your call log or downloads folder.
Memos, calls, and voicemails
Works with Apple Voice Memos (.m4a), MP3, WAV, and more: dictations, meeting call recordings, a voicemail you’d rather read than replay five times to catch a phone number. It’s not just calls: field notes recorded on the move, a memo left for yourself between meetings, a voicemail from a client all transcribe the same way. Need to convert a file first? The free, browser-based conversion tools handle that without an account or an upload.
Speaker labels for two-sided calls
A recorded call comes back with each side separated automatically, so you can see who said what without re-listening to find it. Rename each speaker to a real name in a click, and it carries through the whole transcript and every export, which helps when “Speaker 1” and “Speaker 2” isn’t specific enough to act on.
Need more than deletion? Try private mode
For the most sensitive recordings (protecting a source’s identity, an interview that shouldn’t leave a paper trail in your account), standard deletion may not go far enough. Private mode is stricter: it runs speech recognition only, skips saved transcript storage entirely, and adds no post-processing AI. Instead of a transcript sitting in your account afterward, you get a password-protected archive to keep yourself. Turn it on per recording, whenever a specific file calls for it; normal mode stays the default for everything else.

Frequently asked questions
Which recording formats work?
M4A (Apple Voice Memos), MP3, WAV and more. Convert anything unusual first with our free in-browser tools.
Is a phone-call recording kept private?
Yes. The audio is deleted the moment the transcript is ready, and the engine retains nothing. You can delete the transcript in one click.
Are both sides of a call labeled?
Yes. Speaker labels separate each voice automatically.
What are the limits?
A recording can run up to 10 hours, with no file-size limit – large audio is prepared right in the browser. Your prepaid balance and service safeguards apply.
Which languages?
It detects the language automatically and transcribes around 99 languages. The full list is on the Languages page.
Can I merge several recordings into one transcript?
Yes. Upload the related parts and merge them into a single ordered transcript, with speakers tracked consistently across all of them instead of resetting per file.
What's the difference between normal mode and private mode?
Normal mode stores an encrypted transcript you can read, edit, and export whenever you like. Private mode skips saved transcript storage, runs speech recognition only, and returns a password-protected archive instead, built for recordings where even a saved transcript is more than you want to keep. See the private transcription page for the full comparison.
